 Sanur

Sanur is traditionally a fishing village and has managed to keep that lazy-town feeling. This really makes Sanur a unique area and unlike most other beach areas in Bali, Sanur has stayed largely in local hands. The main street is lined with a mix of quaint little shops selling Bali knick-knacks and the trendy label clothing shops, slow paced restaurants that have a real Balinese atmosphere and various types of accommodation.
Sanur beach is sheltered by a reef which is surfable when there's a good swell and there is also the chance for a bit of a snorkel. During low tide, it's really too shallow to swim but it's still quite beautiful with an abundance of coconut palms, gold sand and a great paved walking track running along the beach. High tide turns the beach into a fun place of water sports and swimming.
Sanur is a good place for families who are looking for a safe beach for the kids to swim at and for couples that want to get away from the crowds but don't want to be isolated.

Sanur Reviews

We have been to Sanur the last three years. Andrew always comes in with a super competitive quote and accomodates our desire to stay at the lesser-known hotels. Sanur is fabulous for a less commercial break but comes with all the gorgeous stuff associated with Bali. From our 2005 trip; "Got to the Tandjung Sari and shown room. Huge room in a free standing traditional Balinese design with the biggest bed we have ever seen, surrounded by a mosquito net. Sunken bath with room for two, toilet and bidet, and an outdoor shower in a private courtyard. Out the front of our room, our own bale with cushions, candles and small table. Hotel provides sleeping shirts, sarongs and straw sunhats. High walls surrounded our whole set up so we could do and wear what we wanted while lounging around. Down to the beach bar and pool where we were offered complementary cocktails –margaritas please.Next morning down to the pool for breakfast overlooking the beach- the food at the Tandjung was really good and breakfast was no exception- anywhere that offers me fresh, hot croissants and Danishes and good strong coffee to start the day makes me a very happy camper (as well as fresh fruit salad/yoghurt/pancakes/eggs etc)." Each trip we always; hire bikes/ take a boat trip beyond the reef to snorkel/go to The Village for Italian food to die for/go to Hardy's to stock up on beer, tonic, juices and fruits and upstairs to buy any last minute handcraft at fixed price...etc,etc,etc.

The first time we flew to Bali was when I was ten and we stayed at Sindu Beach hotel Sanur. Since then my family have travelled back to Bali every year, because not only did we make friends there,we made a whole new family. My brother and I stay in the village in Sanur with our family and I can safely say that I have never felt more at home then when I'm in Sanur.
