 About bali.co.nz

People who are serious about having an unforgettable holiday or adventure want to speak to someone that's already been there and done that - someone that really knows the destination well. No one wants to end up in a horrible hotel or on a boring tour that doesn't suit them because their travel agent doesn't know any better.

The world's a big place and it's impossible to know every hotel, resort and activity. But by being a Bali specialist, we stay up to date with pretty much everything about Bali and as you'll see, this will help make your holiday a treasured memory.

Here's another way of looking at it. If you had an ear infection, you've got the choice of going to a General Practitioner or an ear specialist. One knows all about ears and the other has general knowledge about the whole body. It's the same when it comes to getting advice about Bali for your up and coming holiday. You've got the choice of going to a general travel agent or going to a specialist.

Bali.co.nz is your premier Bali specialist and has been sending people to paradise since 2001. Bali.co.nz is a division of Asia Holidays and is licensed to operate under Go Holidays Ltd Broker Division. We work from a home office which saves on overheads which helps keep our prices to you down. You are welcome to visit to discuss your holiday plans but please call first to arrange a time.

Our aim is to be able to offer you the best possible advice, price and service.

A BIT ABOUT US

Andrew with his wife Wawang at Kuta Beach, Bali.
Andrew Prins
Before starting bali.co.nz, Andrew worked regularly in the wholesale Bali division of Go Holidays selling holidays to Bali as well as travelled throughout Indonesia and the rest of the world, working in Israel and England and studying in Indonesia.
During his time as a Bali holiday wholesaler, he's put together thousands of holiday packages to Bali. To date he has travelled to Bali around 45 times. His most recent trip to Bali and Java was in June 2006.
From August 1999 to June 2000, he studied Bahasa Indonesia (the official language of Indonesia) at Universitas Gadjah Mada in Jogjakarta, one of the top universities in Indonesia, and during that time also did a bit of travelling through Indonesia and South East Asia.
Andrew married in September 2005 to Wawang, who was raised in a small village in Wonogiri, Java. Besides preparing to become a mum, she imports and sells handicrafts from Indonesia.
Andrew's List of Favorites in Bali and Indonesia
Bali Hotel: He loves staying anywhere that’s beyond what he can afford! Highlights have been Puri Kamadalu in a massive private villa and an even bigger private pool and Pita Maha in a Pool Villa overlooking the river and rice paddies.
Bali Restaurant for Dinner: The Living Room, Seminyak. Almost surreal atmosphere with great food and café del mar type music
Bali Restaurant for Breakfast: Tekor Restaurant, Legian. Massive breakfasts of an exceptional quality. Great views under the big trees to the beach and surf.
Shop in Bali: Geneva Handicrafts. Such a great range of handicrafts at good prices. Always inspiring.
Most Interesting Place in Indonesia: Tana Toraja, Sulawesi. This is a small area high up in the hills in Central Sulawesi which he visited in 2000. The culture is very unique, you can go trekking to see caves full of human bones, stay in unique and very old Toraja houses, sample some of the best coffee in the world and take amazing panoramic photos of rice terraces with a mountain backdrop. It was a long bus trip getting there but unforgettable.
Snorkelling: Togian Islands and Pulau Bunaken, Sulawesi. These days Pulau Bunaken is better than the Togian Islands so for some of the best in diving and snorkelling that Indonesia has to offer, take a trip to Bunaken Island. You won’t be disappointed.
Indonesian City: Jogjakarta, Java. Unfortunately struck by an earthquake in 2006, the main city is back to normal but the outlying areas are still neglected by the government and people are still living in tents.
Indonesian Beach: Tarimbang Beach in Sumba. Absolutely breathtaking bay. He hasn't come across a more inviting and idyllic beach.
Food: His parents-in-law's 'warung' in Cileungsi, Bogor. They cook the best Indonesian food around. And his wife cooks the best Indonesian food in New Zealand!
Grant Freeman
Grant started in retail travel in the early 80’s and has had an extensive life in travel and is one of the more senior and well known in the travel industry.
He started his career in travel down the line at Variety Travel in Wellington and quickly rose from junior to manager within 3 years! Grant moved up to Auckland and spent several years in the wholesale side of travel before starting his own shop – Travel For Less Blockhouse Bay. Grant almost single handedly grew his shop from one of the lowest performing Travel For Less shops to win awards such as ‘Most Improved’ and reached a place in the ‘Top 10’ TFL shops. After several successful years, Grant sold up and went to work in the Bali Travel Service / Bali wholesale division at Go Holidays. He quickly became Bali Manager and let his team to become the highest profitable division at Go.
Grant came to work alongside Andrew in April 2005 and has steadily built up an impressive list of repeat clients and referrals.
Over the years Grant has travelled to Bali over 40 times and knows hotels very well – possibly the best in New Zealand. He has stayed in a variety of hotels from the worst to internationally acclaimed exclusive resorts.

Grant’s List of Favourites in Bali
Bali Hotel: Amankila, Candi Dasa. The kind of place he’d like to model his house on!
Bali Restaurant: Any seafood restaurant in Jimbaran Bay.
Shop in Bali: The air conditioned DVD shop near Hotel Ramayana.
Bali Day Trip: Mountain Cycling. A real leisurely day seeing the Bali countryside.
Park: The Reptile Park for the Komodo Dragons.
Food: Buffet breakfasts cause he doesn’t get them at home.
Drink: Goes without saying – a large Bintang at a pool bar
