“Swastika" is a sanskrit word derived from the root words "su" which means goodness, and "asti", to be. Don’t be put off by the name!! The Swastika Bungalows, tucked away under the palms just a few hundred meters from Sanur's golden-sand beach, is owned and managed by a local Balinese family. The friendly service, ever-present smile and attentiveness of staff, is sure to make you feel at home. Set in colourful tropical gardens are two swimming pools and 80 spacious rooms. Rooms are basic, some with ceiling fan and others with air conditioning. Refrigerators are available on request for a small surcharge. Some rooms have IDD telephone which is also available in some rooms. At the entrance to the Bungalows is the Swastika II Garden Restaurant serving a choice of Indonesian, Chinese and European food. Often there’ll be a Balinese performance here or at the Swastika I restaurant down the road. The Swastika Bungalows is a budget hotel but has a nice traditional Balinese atmosphere and culture.

Got back from Bali a couple of months ago, stayed at Swastika for the 3rd time, and as usual it was great. Staff are wonderful and will do anything to make sure you have an enjoyable holiday I would go back to Swastika again as it is value for money. A lovely hotel tucked away where it is nice and private , would recommend this hotel to the budget traveller.

We have stayed here four times now, it makes a great starting point if you are planning to travel elsewhere although the first time we happily stayed here the whole holiday. Each time we return we feel like we are coming home, the staff are delightful and sincerely welcoming. Very good rooms with huge balconies (we upgrade to aircon) lovely gardens and pools: this is a real oasis. If you need things like a fridge/(you can hire them) tv/ and games room don't come here, but if you enjoy the Balinese style of comfort this place is for you and the massage ladies at the side of the pool are the best in Bali and so reasonable. Another plus is that outsiders are not allowed in so no one hassles you. I would feel safe staying here on my own too.
